The First WomenHack In Dublin

Last Thursday (June 14th) we had the pleasure to attend the first WomenHack event in Dublin. The event was hosted by Stripe and received close to 50 top female software engineers, UI/UX designers and product managers.

Dublin’s event included some of the best tech companies in the industry, such as Stripe, Intercom, Ammeon, Oracle, Ding and many more. The evening kicked off with an opening speech from Marina Petrenko, Director or Operations and Business Development at WomenHack. This was followed by speeches from the various sponsors, where all of them acknowledged their willingness to be part of a community that aims to empower women in tech by facilitating access and transparency in the industry.

The last part of the evening was a session of 5-minute rapid interviews and networking to keep things engaging and fun. We were delighted to meet so many women with such differing backgrounds in technology. Coming to these type of events helps them to stay active in the market, but also to work towards the vision of equalising the playing field in the tech industry while showing companies that they should build out diverse teams that are capable of outperforming.

It has always been important to empower women in tech, but it’s inspiring to see so many companies starting to think about this topic. Women’s access to tech should be facilitated and transparent within this industry. It’s the perfect time to create a more inclusive workplace and we’re excited to be part of this change.
