I am working with a managed service provider based in Dublin who are looking to add to their support team with a Field Service Engineer. Reporting to the Service Desk Team Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for visiting clients as and when needed to manage day to day support issues, preventative maintenance and desktop/laptop setup. Please note to be considered for this position you must have a full clean driver’s licence. This role is perfect for someone with strong experience working within a Service Desk environment with a solid understanding of Microsoft and Virtual Platforms. Key Duties of the role:

  • Identify and resolve to software/hardware issues.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including account setup and network configuration.
  • Provide support to clients via different channels including phone, email or chat, until the issue is resolved.
  • Escalate any unresolved issues to the appropriate internal teams.
  • Use all resources at your disposal to provide accurate technical solutions.
  • Prioritize and manage several open issues at the one time
  • Make follow up calls with clients to ensure their systems are fully functional after troubleshooting.
  • Document technical knowledge in notes and manuals.
  • Maintain excellent professional relationships with clients
  • Provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal.

What you need:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • At least 2+ years technical experience in an IT Service Desk environment
  • Track record in support methodologies (ITIL).
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to manage and deliver under pressure.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the full Microsoft platform including Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong knowledge of supporting Virtual Desktop environments (VMware Horizon).
  • Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy & Exchange administration
  • Knowledge and understanding of Networking.
  • Windows Server experience.
  • Experience supporting/configuring Firewalls (SonicWall, Fortinet, Watchguard etc.)
  • A working knowledge of VMware ESXi & vSphere from 4.0 to 6.5
  • Working knowledge of Hyper-V.
