Junior/ Intermediate Software Engineer

Stelfox has exclusively partnered with a leading technology client that is building an industry-defining data analytics platform for its global customer base. 

Their state-of-art Risk Management platform is vital to customers when calculating financial risks associated with multi-million-dollar aircraft purchasing decisions.

Due to new business success, our client is explaining their product development team in Dublin and is actively hiring for a Junior (or Intermediate) Software Engineer with a passion for developing back-end / server-side web applications.

Here the Engineer will become part of a small, high-performing Product Engineering team building complex, data-driven solutions using modern technologies including – TypeScript/ JavaScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Docker, Terraform, and AWS.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with and learn from an exceptionally strong Software/Product Engineering team assembled from across Technology, Banking, and Aviation Finance domains.

What you’ll be doing…

• Implement back-end services in TypeScript on Node.js
• Follow best practices of software development including high coding standards, automated testing, documentation, code reviews, etc.
• Work closely with Senior Engineers to understand the needs of clients.
• Extending data models for a complex business domain
• Implementing infrastructure as code, using Terraform with AWS platform.
• Opportunity to work full-stack, though with a primary focus on back-end.
• The role will involve working closely with a very experienced team with the opportunity to extend knowledge of modern development technologies, in particular TypeScript, Node.js, Terraform, AWS, Docker & React.

What you need:

• Ideally a Masters Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Financial Engineering
• 18 months – 3 years post-academic commercial experience as Software Engineer developing server-side web applications.
• Solid experience with a strongly typed programming language (e.g.)  Java, TypeScript, Python, C#, C++
• A genuine passion/ interest in working with TypeScript/ Node.js
• Excellent understanding of SDLC best practices
• Experience with the design and implementation of RESTful API
• Good understanding of SQL databases and Unix/ Linux environments
• Any experience deploying and managing applications in an AWS cloud environment is highly desirable
• Exposure to Docker or Terraform is a bonus
• Must hold an EU Passport or Stamp 4 Work Permit 
• Must be flexible to work from the company’s Dublin city office 2 days per week min.
