Negotiable DOE

We’re working exclusively with a city centre based client who are looking to recruit an experienced Linux Operations Engineer. As this role will be their first hire in this area they are looking for someone with experience in mentoring developers to work within a collaborative devops environment.

Here’s the opportunity – my client company was purchased by a massive multinational corporation with a revenue stream in the billions. Client company is currently a Windows environment but they are now wanting to move the environment to a Linux one. It’s forecasted that it will take up to 2 years for a full integration and you get to lead the charge on it from a technical perspective.

So what your background must include is AWS experience, Docker, CI/CD environment and the track record of wanting to automate everything, obviously great Linux skills are required too but experience in working in a split environment between Linux and Windows would be beneficial.

Apart from that your day to day will look a little like this:

  • Facilitate and own infrastructure requests for various software projects.
  • Possess a drive to “automate everything”.
  • Automate continuous integration and deployment processes.
  • Help the dev teams by pro-actively identifying infrastructure and build bottlenecks, and working to alleviate them
  • Own the creation of automated, containerised cloud application platforms, and DevOps processes that use those platforms.
  • Integrate various components and build tools that allow the team to operate more efficiently.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for troubleshooting and resolving complex problems that span several different platforms.
  • Proactive design and implementation of automated monitoring solutions.

What you need:

  • Experience with virtualised & cloud environments (AWS experience a must)
  • Ability to analyse and optimise performance in high-traffic internet applications
  • A constant desire to improve, learn more and take things higher
  • A familiarity with a wide variety of software development methodologies, tools, languages and approaches
  • At least eight years operations engineering experience, a large portion of which in a team environment
  • Solid competency with different databases
  • Prior experience with or knowledge of large scale, high volume systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field

On offer is a good salary & benefits package, state of the art offices including onsite gym and the opportunity to join a growing company.
