Senior Cloud Platform Engineer (AWS) – Contract Role

Dublin (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
6-Month rolling long term contract

Stelfox is partnering with a leading organisation to hire a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer (AWS). This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud platforms Supporting the next generation of digital applications.

You’ll join a highly skilled cloud platform team, playing a key role in building resilient, secure, and scalable AWS environments, with a strong focus on automation, infrastructure as code, and secure delivery pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for automated deployments
  • Implement and optimise CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows
  • Drive best practices across cloud security, IAM, networking, and governance
  • Support multi-account AWS environments, including landing zones and Control Tower
  • Work closely with engineering, security, and operations teams to deliver robust solutions
  • Implement observability and monitoring using AWS native tools, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or Dynatrace
  • Support containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)
  • Optimise cost and performance across large-scale cloud environments

Required Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, or SRE, with 3+ years in AWS
  • Proven experience delivering production-grade cloud solutions in regulated environments
  • Strong expertise in:  AWS architecture & services, Cloud security, IAM, networking, and governance, Networking concepts (firewalls, DNS, load balancing, proxies)
  • Proficiency in Python, Go, or Shell scripting
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform (or similar IaC tools)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Knowledge of zero-trust architecture, encryption, and KMS
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset

Desirable Experience

  • Background in financial services or fintech
  • Experience with multi-account AWS environments and Control Tower
  • Experience in cost optimisation strategies across cloud platforms
  • Contributions to open-source projects or active involvement in cloud communities
