6 month rolling contract. Good daily rates on offer.
Mobile platform client of mine seeking an experienced Java developer for their Dublin office on a 6 month rolling contract.
Role will involve working with a mixed team of front-end, full-stack, back-end and mobile developers, and close collaboration with their Product Design team.
They want strong Java developers, with experience working on complex distributed SaaS infrastructure.
They build scalable and resilient backend systems which process billions of events on a daily basis.
This team and environment is full of high level engineers that is set in a very relaxed environment.
What you need:
Skills they want:
•BSc or higher in Computer Science or related discipline and/or 5+ years industry experience.
•Experience developing Java microservices (they use a Dropwizard style environment).
•Experience with TDD, unit, integration, and system test best practise.
•Experience with Relational and NoSQL databases at scale (they have MySQL, BDB, Redis, Redshift, and DynamoDB in their mix).
•Experience designing, implementing, operating and debugging software in an environment where the platform has availability of 99.99%.
Skills in which they also look to seek:
•Solid experience of shipping highly scalable services that handle 100,000+ requests/second.
•Data encoding/compression/serialization using one or more of Protobuf, Avro, Parquet, Snappy, or Gzip.
•Experience with the AWS ecosystem.
•Experience integrating with mobile service APIs (eg. push notification systems APNS/GCM/ADM).
•Familiarity with Scala, Ruby, Rails, or Python a big plus.
•Familiarity with development for Hadoop (or similar frameworks).
•JVM tuning and debugging: you can find a memory leak, tune the GC generations, and know when someone set the thread pool size incorrectly.
•Contributions to open source projects would be a plus also eg Github, Stackoverflow etc.
