Malambo Maternity Clinic Project 2017

At Stelfox giving back is very important to us, we take great interest in ongoing projects especially through our partner charity’s. Indreni is one of our main charity and aims to provide children in Nepal who are currently living in poverty and without family with quality education and as importantly with a loving home where they can develop and grow as every child has the right to do. In March Indreni sponsored a new initiative, The Malambo Maternity Clinic Project 2017

The Malambo Maternity Clinic Project 2017 aims to help build a 6 bed maternity clinic in Malambo, Tanzania. The people of the remote Masailands struggle without access to basic medical services during child birth & the maternal and child mortality rates in this area is one of the highest in East Africa. The target for this project is €30,000.

Recently our Chairman Keith Molony was in touch with Jerome Kilkenny who gave an update of the project so far.

Fundraising update:

Jerome would like to thank everyone for the support of the Malambo Maternity Clinic Project.  Donations have slowed down a little and they are currently at €18,000 pledged toward the required €30,000.  Jerome is extremely thankful to the charity Indreni who have pledged an incredible €10,000 to the project.

Project update:

Jerome plans to fly to Tanzania next week for a short trip. Thankfully for the people there the rains they have been waiting on for months and months have finally arrived.  Joseph Bura (a local project manager who he worked with in the past) has been doing a great job making arrangements on the ground, verifying building quotes etc etc. When Jerome gets to Tanzania he will be meeting with the contractor/builder and the district health officer to finalize plans with a view to starting construction in late June or early July. They will also be making the first payment toward building materials as these need to be ordered and transported from Arusha which is a 8-10 hour journey depending on road conditions.
