Staff / Principal .NET Developer - FinTech | Cork | Hybrid | €100K+

We're partnering with a high-growth FinTech company in Cork that's backed by major investment and building the next generation of data-driven financial technology solutions.

They're looking to bring on two senior-level engineers (Staff / Principal) who can combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership. If you thrive in complex environments and love solving large-scale data and architectural challenges - this is for you.

MUST-HAVE (Non-Negotiable)

8+ years in software development
2+ years in a Team Lead or Technical Lead role
Strong hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database (stored procedures, query tuning, performance optimization)
Recent .NET development (.NET 6/7/8 preferred, .NET Core minimum)
Experience with database-to-API migrations - moving business logic to the application layer
Worked with large-scale data systems processing millions of records

Leadership Experience

Managed or led teams of 4+ developers
Proven track record mentoring developers (specific examples or references available)
Delivered results under pressure (tight deadlines, shifting priorities, tech debt)
Successfully joined mid-project and taken over existing codebases or teams

Soft Skills

Excellent communicator - able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Confident decision-maker even without perfect information

HIGHLY DESIRABLE

Background in Financial Services / FinTech / Banking / Payments / Lending
Prior Irish employment experience - familiar with local work culture and regulations
Azure DevOps / CI-CD pipelines experience
Strong understanding of Agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban, iterative models)
Proven performance optimization across applications or databases
Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy systems
Exposure to regulated or compliance-heavy environments (data governance focus)

NICE-TO-HAVE (Bonus Points)

Azure SQL Elastic Pool experience
Exposure to Pyramid Analytics or similar BI tools
Experience with Identity Server / OAuth / Authentication
Partitioning strategies for large tables
C# and Entity Framework proficiency
Financial data modeling experience
